Well two weeks down of learning to teach Pilates and I’ve really enjoyed it.

I’ve found it easier than the yoga to teach solely based on it having been around for about a century, so no ancient philosophical basis and no unpronounceable Sanskrit names to memorise :)

The teaching of the exercise is simple to describe for me and the movements more definite as well as not having to be a contortionist to follow along.  However Pilates Barre is not so easy-peasy … For me it was one of the toughest classes I have ever done, leaving me groaning in agony for days.  Don’t be scared though as it does get easier as your muscles become accustomed to the effort, initially there is just a much higher cardiovascular workout involved.  It is well worth it to achieve fast results and have “Trim Taut Terrific” muscle tone, this is noticed quickly and to my satisfaction.

I’m looking forward to teaching pilates as it allows me to use my creativity so that I can make the classes lots of fun, I like the idea of using upbeat music and leaving students with the feeling that they’ve really had a great workout.

Pilates has really changed my body so that I am much stronger in my practice of yoga, which is still my personal favourite form of exercise because of its emphasis on the spiritual and its role in calming the mind.

This is Mikki-Mouse on her Senior First Aid Exam … Aced it!
