Last week I asked the universe for a baby and the next day I got a tiny Shitzu puppy for my birthday and named her Shiva. She was 3x smaller than her sisters and both me and the boys instantly bundled her up and took her home.

We only had her for 4 days before we noticed something wasn’t right and rushed her to the vet. The vet said she had intestinal worms and put her on antibiotics. Within 48 hours and no sleep I rushed her to the animal emergency hospital where she is now in critical care after an intestinal operation.

So far she has cost us over $4500 in 7 days and my mum thinks its ridiculous as she is only a puppy and we should put her down as the vet said she might need another operation tonight and can’t guarantee the results! As I said to my mum, I see no difference between animals and humans and if one of the boys were sick  I would pay for them in a heart beat if it meant they had another chance to get well and live.

I think it’s so sad that money can dictate life or death situations for animals. Why do we work so hard? to protect, support and care for our families future of course. If you can afford to go without to save a life of another wouldn’t you?

I now however believe in pet insurance but like the vet said to me today its Murphys Law; you get insurance and don’t use it, you don’t get it and you need it!

A life is a life, regardless of whether it manifests through two legs or four, through skin or through fur – I believe our connections with other sentient beings are just as deep and just as karmic as those we have with people.

Love and light to brave little shiva and to those providing her care, hoping you get well soon little one xx
