Occupation: Founder – Global Organic Coffee
Why do you come to Essence of Living: I first started coming years ago, back when the rooms were a lot smaller, and I just loved the cosy, warm feel of the studio and I was hooked. It’s the best part of my day, and no matter what’s happened throughout the day or how I’ve felt, I’m able to come to class and burn it all off on the mat.
How long have you been practicing: On and off for 6 years. I’ve traveled overseas a lot during that time, but whenever I’m back on the G.C. I get to class as often as possible
How often do you practice: 4-5 times a week. I love the combination on yoga, surfing, acupuncture, gym, healthy eating, I feel great! I love the soothing words that the teachers have to offer, and that no one class is ever the same.
Benefits of your practice: It makes me a better person. I’m able to separate myself from the crazy thoughts that go running through my head and just be present and see the world for what it is. Plus there’s the added benefit of feeling loose, flexible and floating out of the studio and back into reality with loads of energy to tackle life! It’s given me the inspiration to take on some fantastic business initiatives, and I really believe in giving first. I’d love everyone to come and check out the awesome partnership we’ve got happening on Facebook with UNICEF right now
Life advice in a nutshell: “You’re only as good as the chances you take” I stole that one from Al Pacino haha but I love it! And “Supervise especially your thoughts, because it is they which determine your life” believe it or not that one is from the Old Testament. I’d recommend that everyone start off their day with a handful of positive affirmations, it really does set the tone for a great day and puts you in control of how your day goes.
