Academy FAQ

You are required to participate only in an Essence of Living qualified teachers session. These can be at any community sessions or studios with an Essence trained teacher.
You can do up to half of your required sessions on our EOL TV LIVE platform.

As a part of your training you will be assisting in sessions by taking part in physical adjustments. You will organise with a fellow teacher trainee to adjust them throughout a session, and you can then reciprocate by being adjusted by them in another session. While you are in training you cannot adjust anyone and everyone in a session.It is important that the sessions you intend to assist in are taught by a Level 2 teacher, so they have the necessary skills to teach the class and also assist you with your adjustments. When training begins, you will be given the names of these teachers so you can schedule these assists.

Students are expected to attend all sessions. If unable to attend a session, it is the student’s responsibility to make other arrangements.  Please contact us in writing to arrange (emails are acceptable). Additional costs may apply at an assessment rate of $150 an hour.

All written and practical assessments must be completed in order to receive certificates. All evidence for assessment must be submitted within 6 months of the course start date. You can submit evidence twice, within 6 months of the start date. Please get in touch if you require an extension.

How ‘good’ someone is at yoga or Pilates is very subjective. We only ask that our trainee teachers have a passion for the practice, initiative and a heartfelt wish to help others.Of course, there is a physical component to our teacher training courses. We suggest you have a regular practice before signing up for training. If you are concerned, please contact us to discuss.

We understand that the cost of our courses may be out of reach for some. We also want all aspiring teachers to have the opportunity to train with us. With this in mind, we offer payment plans.

There is a capacity of 20 students per training course.

As well as your face-to-face training, you are required to participate, observe and assist in a number of sessions. Outside of this, you will need to spend time completing your assessment pieces. Every student is different, so it is difficult to estimate how many hours this course work will take. Please read over the list of assessments carefully, to determine how long this may take you to complete.

Essence of Living teachers are highly regarded and many find teaching work soon after completing training. As with any job, your commitment, skill and initiative are important factors leading to your employability. We will provide you with the highest level of training, and the best business advice we can, but it is up to you to put this into practice when looking for work.

Once you complete all of the course requirements (sessions, assists, observations and assessment) to a satisfactory level, you will receive your certification. Once you have received your certification you can begin teaching.

Our Yoga Teacher Training courses are recognised by Yoga Alliance. Our Pilates Teacher Training courses are recognised by Fitness Australia.

This training is perfect if you have a calling to make Yoga & Pilates your career! You will not only learn how to be a fantastic teacher and catalyst for positive change, but also learn the essential fundamental business skills to not only survive but thrive within the industry.

Your mat, a towel, water bottle, pen, notepad, snacks/food (you will have breaks to leave the studio, if you’d like to purchase food) and a change of clothes. You’ll be getting sweaty, so always bring along a fresh set of clothes and some deodorant for your comfort and the comfort of your fellow students! The Essence of Living Gold Coast training studio is located only a short stroll to a natural swimming hole, so you might want to bring swimwear and towel so you can have a dip.

Yes! Alumni are entitled to 20% off all future courses

Our training course includes actual teaching, not just theory. This will set you up for stepping onto the mat to teach once you have completed your training.

Cancellation Policy

Deposit Amount:

- The deposit amount is calculated as 50% of the total course cost.

- All deposits are non-refundable, but can be credited to be used towards another course within 12 months.

Cancellation more than 30 days prior to course commencement:

- The deposits are non-refundable (50% of the total course cost) but can be transferred to another course.

- The balance paid can be refunded. 

Cancellation made within 30 days or less: 

- Any monies paid cannot be refunded, but can be transferred to another course.

- Course to be completed within 12 months.

Cancellation after course commencement: 

- All teacher training money is non refundable after the commencement of the course.

- Under special circumstances and written confirmation we can reschedule to the following delivery of the same course/ credit towards another course (credit must be used within 12 months).
